Snowy Bugle

It was an early Fall morning and the heavy flakes began to descend, transforming the landscape into a winter wonderland. With my heaviest lens and tripod slung over my shoulder, I pressed on, driven by the anticipation of witnessing the majestic elk in their natural habitat during the rutting season. The bugle calls echoed through the forest, a beautifully haunting melody that drew me in.

Finally, I spotted this male, with its impressive antlers silhouetted against the falling snow. With quiet precision, I set up my camera and began to capture the scene before me. Despite the relentless snowfall, I remained transfixed, lost in the moment as I watched the elk perform its ancient ritual. I stayed until my lens and camera were fully covered in inches of snow and I was no longer able to keep my fingers from going numb. I reluctantly began to hike my way back to camp, my memory card filled with images that would serve as a reminder of this magical encounter for years to come.
